Easy to adjust for nail size and shingle guide. Hope to not have to use it for at least 20 years. I needed to shingle a large roof and this nail handled the job with no fuss. No problems encountered.
These were easy to fix, but an aggravation. I had a few of nails that didn't set completely, but I think that was more from my learning curve with the tool, than the tool itself. For the price, it was definitely a good buy for me. I bought this to roof a shed (2 squares) and to use when I get around to re-roofing my garage. That's why I gave it 4 stars. I also had a few misfires when the nails didn't feed properly.
I don't know how it would hold up for someone who had to use it everyday to put food on the table though (it felt a little flimsy). First off, I'm not a roofer. Its pretty simple to operate. Again, I don't know if that's from the nails I was using, my technique, or the tool itself.
if you're lokking for a tool to make your roofing projects go smoothly, give this one a try. i switched triggers before i used it to make it fire only when i pulled the trigger. finally got to use it today and it worked great. only had a few nails that didn't go in the whole way, but from what i hear that is the case with most roofing nailers. bought this a month or two ago for a small roofing job on my house. at $142 new in box i couldn't pass it up. couldn't get the hang of it that way so i put the bump trigger back on and it worked like a charm.
I know, I have searched the net for hours looking. Thanks again Amazon.com for your great prices and excellent service. The easy pressure adjustments and rapid fire feature make this item a perfect fit for any amature or professional roofer. I am not a professional roofer but with this gun I could get there. I just finished a 41 square roof with not one nail jam. I have nothing but good to say about the Dewalt D51321 Roofing Nailer that I purchased a couple of months ago. That is approximately 9000 nails ran through the gun. Plus you will not find this item cheaper anywhere else.
So far, each gun has approximately 3000 nails through them, and already some very negative things have happened. I would say that about every 15th nail, has to be pounded in with a hammer, and about every 20th shot, is a double nail, which also has to be pounded in with a hammer.
Spend a little more and get a Bosch. I have tried both trigger assemblies, and it does not matter which one is used.
Not very efficient at all. I have a couple of these, and both have 15000+ nails through them, with only one misfire (due to a bad nail).
I purchased two of these Dewalt roofing nailers, just about 3 weeks ago. First of all, both nailers have a double shot problem, that seems to be very consistant.
If you are considering a roofing nailer, the only one I recommend is Bosch.
